Dive Even Deeper

Try the following to connect further with the film’s story…

Drawing Exercise: Map the ‘boundaries’ of your day-to-day so you can break out of your routine and open yourself up to something new.

  • Grab a pen/pencil and paper and think about your typical day. Where do you spend the majority of your time?
  • Sketch a rough floor plan or map of the spaces that you visit during the day. Feel free to use geometrical shapes to represent rooms, buildings, etc.
  • How does your typical day look? How can you alter your typical paths and routines to encourage more socialization? How can you break out of bounds to experience something new and different?

He has Agoraphobia a type of anxiety, It’s speaks volume about conquering your fears means you have to go out your comfort zone, and when you do you will find healing, and realize everyone is dealing with something; because he took that chance he possibly found a friend, and his fish wouldn’t die of loneliness because his owner was now in a bigger space to meat other people, & so was his fish

This gave me anxiety and I understand how he feels. I was home sick for months and when I had to go outside it scared me. However I did conquer my fears and I am a lot better now. Great video

Each of us has our own jails either put upon us and or we have created. The journey across the street meteorically in an effort to survive can many times lead to a world of opportunity. This I know in little and in great.

I learned that Aspergers is way more serious and can be more crippling than I thought.

I felt uneasy watching it. I realize that he was not comfortable gong outside, but his neighbor made him some what comfortable. People need to go outside their box to find support.

Fear and anxiety can be debilitating and is real to many, but as the film depicted, with the right nudge (this can be different for each person) we can find courage to perform even when afraid.
What stood out to me was the fact that he isolated himself and was reaffirming thoughts that were not helpful at all; a bad combination which propelled a cycle.
The film also made me think about the effect my actions/responses can have on people who maybe experiencing such fear and decides to venture outside their comfort zone.

I am reminded of the phrase that President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt said.
“ Get Action”….. He had been a shy, sickly child and had to get out of his comfort zone. So he inspired others to try and find action of any sort to move forward in life. When i am filled with anxiety I remember this lesson and move forward realizing others feel this way also.

I did not know this person had Asbergers. I thought it was anxiety/ OCD. This was a wonderful playout of what happens when they are pushed beyond their comfort zone.
